Seven people are now charged in a superseding indictment for their roles in a $110 million Medicare fraud scheme involving patients who were not terminally ill. A person who operated United Palliative & Hospice Company allegedly paid kickbacks to owners of group homes and others who helped enroll patients and to a hospital discharge coordinator for referrals. They also bribed a physician to falsely certify and recertify patients as terminally ill, according to the charges. Read a Department of Justice press release.
