Donald Woo Lee has been sentenced to almost eight years in prison for defrauding Medicare, repackaging single-use catheters for reuse on patients, and submitting false declarations in a bankruptcy proceeding. He also “upcoded,” or billed these unnecessary procedures to Medicare using an inappropriate code in order to obtain a higher reimbursement.
