A doctor pleaded guilty in a durable medical equipment (DME) case and also agreed to forfeit almost $2.5 million. The case involved a scheme in which conspirators secretly gained control of multiple companies, which Medicare prohibits. This enabled them to submit high volumes of illegal DME claims. They illegally purchased thousands of signed doctors’ orders for DME braces from so-called “marketers.” Read a Department of Justice press release.
