Doctor Sentenced to Over Eight Years

Dr. Bethany A. Cataldi, the owner of the Center for Otolaryngology and Facial Plastic Surgery, was sentenced to over eight years in prison and ordered to pay more than $19 million in restitution. Court documents say that Cataldi billed Medicare and private insurance for thousands of balloon sinuplasty procedures that she did not perform. Cataldi was paid almost $20 million for these nonexistent procedures, with about $460,000 paid by individual patients.
